Fact-Checking and Sourcing Policy

Source priority
We prefer government portals, regulators, legislation, universities, employer career pages, official company announcements and original datasets. Reputable secondary reporting may provide context but should not replace an available primary source for a material claim.
Verification before publication
Editors may compare important claims with the cited source, publication date and relevant context. Career News requires an identifiable organisation and official source URL, and promotional wording may be edited so that the published page distinguishes the source's claim from independently verified fact.
Authorship and first-hand claims
Statements based on personal experience, testing, interviews or professional expertise should identify that basis accurately. We do not present invented credentials, fabricated interviews, simulated first-hand experience or unsupported expert claims as evidence.
Changing information
Visa rules, salaries, deadlines, fees, eligibility, hiring plans and product terms can change quickly. Articles should state dates where useful and direct readers to the responsible official source before they make a consequential decision.
Statistics, estimates and quotations
Statistics should identify their source and period. Estimates, projections, survey findings and anecdotes must be labelled accurately and not presented as universal facts. Quotations and attributed statements should preserve the source's meaning.
Publication and modification dates
Visible dates should reflect real publication or substantial editorial updates. We do not artificially refresh content solely to make it appear more recent. Material corrections or significant new information may justify an updated date.
External organisations and links
Mentioning or linking to an employer, university, job board, product or service does not by itself constitute endorsement. Contributor links are qualified under our link policy, and readers should independently verify identity, terms and availability.
Uncertainty and corrections
Where reliable sources disagree or a claim cannot be confirmed, we should describe the uncertainty rather than state a definite conclusion. Credible correction reports are reviewed under the Corrections Policy and can lead to clarification, update, sourcing changes or removal.
